Indian Premier League Cricket 2009 South Africa

Can Kolkata salvage some pride?

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Chennai Super Kings

Having already qualified for the semis, Chennai will be looking to maintain their winning momentum against Kolkata today.

Kolkata KnightRiders finds themselves in the middle of nowhere. KKR fixed their batting woes with the arrival of David Hussey into their fold. But even an excellent batting performance, reflected in their Batting Momentum (BM) of 210 and Extreme Performance Batting (EP Bat) of 84 couldn’t save the match against Deccan Chargers. Poor performances in bowling and fielding have plagued the team just when they seemed to have found some rhythm in their batting.

CSK on the contrary has perhaps the strongest batting line-up in the tournament, going by their performance. In most of the matches, CSK’s batting has powered the team to victory. Their average Batting Momentum of 217 in the tournament bears testimony to that. But their worry will be their poor fielding standards and lackadaisical bowling performances in the last few matches.

As nothing much is at stake for CSK in this match having already qualified for the semis, KKR will want to leave a lasting impression in this year’s IPL. To achieve that, KKR will have to bat much better than their tournament average BM of 160 against CSK, bowl more precisely than their Bowling Efficiency (BE) of 103 and take all the chances that comes in the field.

Can they do it this time?
